Tamworth Conservatives celebrate local Tap named best pub in Britain.

Tamworth Conservatives have raised a pint to celebrate the success of local brewer “The Tamworth Tap” being named the best pub in the country.  It comes after the Tap won National Pub of the Year award from CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale.

The judges described their visits as “an absolutely delightful experience” with knowledgeable staff, a friendly atmosphere, attractive decor, and great selection of cask ales and real ciders on offer.

Cllr Jeremy Oates, leader of Tamworth Borough Council said: “This is a brilliant success story for our town and my congratulations go out to all the wonderful staff at the Tamworth Tap.  No one could have imagined that five years after bringing an empty 16th century shop back to use that the Tamworth Tap would be the best pub in Britain!  It is a just reward for the hard work and efforts George and Louise Greenaway and their colleagues have put into their business as well as their belief in our town as a place well worth visiting and spending time in.  Tamworth Conservatives will continue to invest in our people and our place, and I know this accolade will encourage many more people from far and wide to see what we have to offer.”
